Ferndale Store

Ferndale, the Cotswolds

Skincare and home goods, made a few miles from the shop.

We work with growers and makers within a morning's drive. Batches are small, labelled by hand, and never rushed. What sells out returns when the next batch is ready, not before.

  • Beeswax from the Windrush valley
  • Lavender from Snowshill
  • Borage oil from Coln Rogers
  • Fleece from the hill above the town
  • Calendula grown behind the shop
  • Rosehips from the hedgerows above the village
  • Linen woven from European flax
  • Every batch numbered and dated by hand

Our story

We should be able to drive there and back before lunch.

Our one rule for every ingredient and every maker on these shelves. Ferndale Store has stood on Sheep Street since 1908, selling whatever the village needed. These days that means skincare made in the back room and home goods from makers we can name and visit.

How buying works, for now

Three ways to buy

We are a shop first and a website second. Reserve anything online and collect it from Sheep Street, or telephone us and we will take payment by card and post your order the same week. Full online checkout arrives with the autumn catalogue.

Word of mouth

Kind words, kept with the batch records

  • Bought the hand salve on holiday, now ordered by phone four times. The lady who answers made the batch I was holding.

  • The facial oil replaced three expensive things on my shelf. Refilling my candle jar in the shop felt oddly momentous.

  • This is what shops used to be like. Everything has a story and none of it feels like marketing.
